Tuber ischium fracture causing sciatic entrapment treated with endoscopic release and fragment resection: A case report
Author(s): Daniela Seidel and Dante Parodi
Abstract: Case:
41 years old male with a
history of traumatic ischial injury 27 years prior presented with Deep Gluteal
Syndrome (DGS). The patient underwent endoscopic sciatic nerve release and open
excision of the ischial fragment. Physical therapy and chronic pain medications
were administered postoperatively, leading to excellent outcomes. Conclusion:
DGS is a rare condition
characterized by the entrapment of the sciatic nerve and surrounding structures
in the gluteal region, resulting in inflammation and pain. Surgical procedures
such as endoscopic release of the sciatic nerve and resection of bony fragments
can effectively alleviate the symptoms associated with DGS.
